Ten on Tuesday {birthday cakes}

Happy Evening Lovely Friends

It's Ten on Tuesday time...
and time for YOU to link up with Kim at It's a Crafty Life and share with us your ten.

It hit me the other day that June is just around the corner.. and I have a birthday party to plan.
I can't believe my little Booges is going to be the BIG 1
I've been looking online at different cakes... I LOVE CAKE!

Here are 10 of my favorite designs

Of course I don't have a theme picked out yet
(maybe I should do that before going straight for the cake)
I do know it's going to be something (kinda) simple... a little back yard BBQ with close family and friends.

When you have a themed party, do you pick a cake to match or just go with what ever looks good in the store?
Am I crazy for want to BIG cake for someone that is turning 1?

Top 2 Tuesday (Monday night) Celebrity Hairstyles

It's been a while since I've linked up with Taylor at The Undomestic Momma for Top 2 Tuesday...
I was noticing I was spending a good portion of my evenings online either blogging, facebooking, or shopping.. and I needed to give some things up. Well since then I have decided that I don't need to give up my 'me' time... I just need to manage my time differently.

I am happy to back... I've missed this weekly post.

Top 2 Celebrity Hairstyles

1. Halle Berry she always looks amazing... I love her and her many hairstyles

2. Jessica Alba I think her hairstyles are so simple, and she always looks great.

Looking at these hairstyles has (almost) inspired me to do something different with my own hair.
It normally stays in a messy bun or ponytail... but while on vacation I put a flat iron to it.
After about an hour of blow drying and flat ironing, this is what I ended up with

I was shocked to see how much my hair really had grown out (it's so much shorter all curled up)
and to think, I used to do this every other day.

cousin time {boys will be boys}

While in Denver we celebrated my mom and auntie's birthday
(yes my mom is a twin)
We had a small little back yard cookout.

Oliver had so much fun playing with his older cousin, Noah, who is 1 1/2 years old.
He really enjoyed watching Noah running around the yard
(I'm sure he was wanting to get up and run too)

There were a few uneasy moments and a few first fights. I guess when you get two kids boys together that aren't used to sharing, there will be a small fight or two.
Good thing BIG cousin Jasmine was there to break them up.

But overall, they here happy boys and loved each other.

Seeing these pictures and reliving the moment, really makes me wish I lived closer to Denver.
Family is so important to me.

Do you live far from your family? How do you handle it?

I love my growing family

Until about four years ago, the youngest person in my family (on my dad's side) was in her early 20's.
During family gatherings you would hear several times how 'nice' it would be to have kids running around.

Well look at us now...

I just LOVE this picture.
My grandparents (Memaw and Grandpa), with some of their grand-kids, and great grand-kids.

I can't wait to print this picture, frame it, and put it on the shelf in Booges room.
I love family pictures... and this one really make my heart happy.

(more pictures from Denver will be posted soon)

oh how I've missed my computer, my blog, and all of you {hello}

Hello Wednesday (night)
Hello reality, we had such a wonderful vacation
Hello cold fall like (kinda snowy) Chicago weather, and goodbye sunny spring Denver
Hello to my 9 month old baby boy who started walking
Hello to running noses and fevers... Hello to teething cranky babies
Hello to all of you!

Booges and I are back from vacation, we had such a wonderful time visiting my family in Denver.
We celebrated my moms birthday, visited lots of family and friends, and did a lot of relaxing.

Pictures of course will be posted soon, but for now, it's time for bed.
Going back to work from a long vacation can be hard, I'm going to need all the sleep I can get.

My Love affair with Etsy... wrist cuffs (week 3)

Etsy Love

So while catching up on my (blog) reading, I came across this tutorial on how to make a lace tie bracelet.
Check it out here.
Ashley at Little Miss Momma is so stinkin' cute and comes up with the best DIY crafty ideas for jewelry.

Super simple and super adorable.

I just love this alternative to a standard bracelet and I HAD to turn to my Etsy for more...
and here are a few of my favorites.

Vintage Style Crocheted Wrist Cuff in Sunrise Colors

EcoCuff Unique Tree Limb Button on Rustic Leather Band

Green Felt Recycled Beaded Bracelet

Mylie- Feathered Cuff

I'm going to have to take a stab of making one of these for myself.

Do you prefer standard jewelry or the bold statements of funky alternatives?
